Indigenous Knowledge Symposium

What is the role of indigenous knowledge and indigenous ways of knowing in higher education? That is what the Indigenous Knowledge Symposium: Sovereignty, Identity, and Knowledge in Higher Education discussed on March 19. Dr. Benally from ECS joined the symposium panel to discuss indigenous knowledge in education.

As part of the symposium panel, Dr. Benally discussed how indigenous knowledge can help shape and inform education and educational practices. She was joined by three other experts, each covering their own area of expertise within higher education: Dr. Margaret Redsteer covered earth sciences; Dr. Samantha Benn-Duke covered indigenous knowledge & language; and Melissa Leilani Devencenzi covered mental health.
